THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL

Ecuador welcomes tourists and travelers from every country. Citizens of the United States, Canada and most European countries traveling to Ecuador for tourism, business or to study do not require a visa unless they expect to stay in Ecuador for more than 90 days in one calendar year. We strongly advise acquiring travel insurance that includes trip cancellations, baggage, and medical protection. Concerning vaccines, there is no vaccination requirement for traveling to mainland and Galapagos regions of Ecuador. However, when traveling to the Amazon, ask your doctor about vaccines that will cover you from typhoid, hepatitis A, diphtheria, and yellow fever.

The most common journey will take you at the Galapagos Ecological Airport (Seymour) located in Baltra Island. Please note you need to pay a fixed fee at your departure airport (mainland) and an additional fee to enter to the Galapagos National Park (at arrival before exiting customs). Fee differs in price for national and international visitors and whether you are an adult or child. Each and every season comes with its own distinct benefits. For many visitors, that offers the opportunity to make several visits a year to different islands, and enjoy distinctly different experiences.

Regardless of the season you visit in, make sure you prepare yourself accordingly. If you’re coming in the summer, make sure you pack waterproof solar cream and bug repellent as you’ll need it to stay off the native insects. And if you’re here in the early spring or late fall, bring impermeable attire in addition of warm clothes as the evenings can be chilly.

It is important you take cash with you as many shops and local services prefer so. DON'T worry the island is super safe! if you planning to spend most of the day out on the island and pristine areas of the national park - please don't forget to carry with you plenty of water and snacks. Finally, respect the rules of the park. LET the conservationist spirit awake within you!

and.. Remember "we are the intruders".
